IGBC encourages young minds to go the ‘Green’ way
Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of CII, in partnership with Carrier and United Technologies Corporation (UTC) – is organising the annual National ‘Green Your School Contest 2015’. As part of the Contest, IGBC in inviting entries from schools (VIII- X Standards) from across the country to submit their ideas on how they can convert their existing school into a ‘Green School’.
Entries could be in the form of a presentation with related videos and pictures. Last date for registration/ confirmations from the schools is 30 September 2015. Top three schools that qualify for the finals would make a detailed presentation before a panel of eminent Judges on 20 November 2015. Thereafter, awards would be presented to the winners on 21 November at Green Building Congress 2015 at Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat.
The top three schools would be awarded with Rs 3.5 lakhs, Rs 2.5 lakhs and Rs 1. 5 lakhs respectively for implementing their ideas in their respective schools. IGBC would handhold the schools in implementing the project.
Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman, IGBC underlined that the objective of the Contest is to inspire and encourage young minds become more sensitive toward Planet Earth. He also informed that, over the years, this contest (earlier known as Green-I) has attracted over 450 schools and touched over 2,500 students, across the country.
Mr Arun Bhatia, Managing Director, UTC Climate, Controls & Security Products, India, highlighted that UTC & Carrier are fully committed to sensitize young minds towards the issue of environment and sustainability and the long association of 8 years with this initiative is a testimony of that. He believes that this Contest will go a long way in achieving this objective.
